About the Painting

California palm trees stretch high into the sky, sunset colors blazing on the mountains in the backdrop. The brush strokes are loose and painterly, evoking the feeling of standing outside in the rushing wind, underneath the palms.

This piece is featured in "A Fistful of Colors" at Scottsdale’s Museum of the West. This striking piece offers a vibrant, dynamic interpretation of the West's natural beauty, with Hanson’s signature bold color palette and expressive brushwork adding to the exhibition's exploration of how color has defined the region’s iconic landscapes. Exhibition dates: December 9th, 2024 - December 14th, 2025

This painting was done on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the edges. The painting will be framed in a 23kt gold leaf floater frame to complement the colors in the piece. It arrives wired and ready to hang.

Erin Hanson ArtistERIN HANSON has been painting in oils since she was 8 years old. As a young artist, she worked at a mural studio creating 40-foot-tall paintings on canvas, while selling art commissions on the side. After getting a degree in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley, Erin became a rock climber at Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. Inspired by the colorful scenery she was climbing, she decided to paint one painting every week for the rest of her life. She has stuck to that decision ever since, becoming one of the most prolific artists in history. Erin Hanson's style is known as "Open Impressionism" and is now taught in art schools worldwide. With thousands of collectors eagerly anticipating her work and millions of followers online, Hanson has become an iconic, driving force in the rebirth of contemporary impressionism.
