About the Painting

Haystack Rock is a unique rock formation off the coast of Oregon. I used to visit Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock when I was a kid, and I remember many long summer days covered in fog and rain. I was lucky enough to capture this vista in mid-summer, when the fog had cleared and the sun was bright and beautiful.

As a side note, I remember first being inspired to have my own gallery when I was twelve years old, and I visited a watercolor artist who had a beautiful gallery overlooking Cannon Beach. I was awed by his huge studio and gallery and fantasized about being like him when I grew up. I was happy to see, when I revisited Cannon Beach a few years ago, that his gallery had grown and was twice the size of when I had seen it as a child!

This painting "Haystack Coast" was done on 3/4" canvas, and the painting will be framed in a gilded plein air frame. The painting arrives ready to hang.

Erin Hanson ArtistERIN HANSON has been painting in oils since she was 8 years old. As a young artist, she worked at a mural studio creating 40-foot-tall paintings on canvas, while selling art commissions on the side. After getting a degree in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley, Erin became a rock climber at Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. Inspired by the colorful scenery she was climbing, she decided to paint one painting every week for the rest of her life. She has stuck to that decision ever since, becoming one of the most prolific artists in history. Erin Hanson's style is known as "Open Impressionism" and is now taught in art schools worldwide. With thousands of collectors eagerly anticipating her work and millions of followers online, Hanson has become an iconic, driving force in the rebirth of contemporary impressionism.
